Have you ever had to say goodbye to a best friend before? I have.
Too many times. It's not fun, it's not great, and it's definitely
not easy.
My wonderful friend Bryant leaves tomorrow to the MTC in Provo, Utah where he will be for a while, and then heads out to Paraguay! I'm so excited for him! :) We were pals down at Snow College this past year, and I remember when he got his mission call and opened it. August seemed so far away at the time, and now it's only two days away.
Bryant and I have been friends since about Junior year in high school. He took me to Prom my first time and it was awesome :) Hahaha that was when we really started to become great friends :) We have so many memories together, especially with our group of friends! It's amazing how many of us can go different directions once we graduate high school, but I'm lucky that I got to experience a year of college with him! He was always coming over and hanging out with me, and we would take turns driving home and back to Ephraim with each other. We'd have little bets like, how many times we could go through one CD before we got to Ephraim. Or, what movie we should watch, what game we should play, what we should do or eat. He's such a goof ball that you never have a dull moment with him! :) We went to the park once, and also I figured out that he can't sit down when he watches tv. Hahaha, it's so funny! We'd also go for walks around campus randomly, or we'd go workout together.
He really was such a genuine friend to me. A best friend in fact. I'm also very grateful for the example he has set for me :) He's such a wonderful disciple of Christ! He's obedient and determined to follow in Christ's footsteps. He's caring, and a gentleman. He's a really good friend and trustworthy. He sticks up for himself and for his friends too. He stays true to who he is at all times, in all things and in all places. I'm really proud of him for going on a mission, and I'm going to miss him lots! It was him who befriended me when I felt the loneliest. I'll promise to write him, and I'm excited to hear about his experiences these next two years :) Tears will be included.
It's not easy. In fact, easy in an understatement. Sending your best friend off on a mission is hard. And then having all your good friends follow and leave on missions makes it even harder. Don't get me wrong, I'm extremely grateful for them, for taking time out of their lives to serve the Lord when he needs them most, but it doesn't get any easier on us back home. It's so hard, but you learn to just live with it.
Balla Followa, it's been real.
Enjoy some pictures of our friendship over the years.
