Spring Break in Oceanside, California!

So I currently just got home from Spring Break with my roommates :) It was a total blast! We were doing something every single day, and I'm really glad! This may be a long post, so brace yourselves!

Day 1: We drove to St. George Saturday afternoon, and we made it safely. Katie knew someone who was kind enough to let us sleep at their lovely home for the night, so that we didn't have to drive straight to California. We were all starving when we arrived so we ate dinner/breakfast at Village Inn! It was yummy! We then headed up to Dixie Rock, and it was such a blast! It's a rock that overlooks the entire city! It's a beautiful view, and I can't wait to go back! My roommate Kiera told us about how her family would lay on their backs and dangle their head upside down on the edge, just for thrill and to see the city upside down! I thought How Crazy! But I knew this was one of those moments that I just needed to be brave, and do it, (and that Brady would be excited to hear as well!) so I did it! It was really fun, and freaky! Then we stopped by the St. George Temple and just walked around, and talked and took pictures! It was lovely :) First time I've been up close in person with that Temple! We then made it back to the house really early, and went to bed early. We scrunched all five of us in a little couch space. Definitely not the best sleep, but at least we had somewhere to sleep!

Day 2: Sunday. What a crazy day. We drove straight to Oceanside, and it was fun! Lexi's wonderful mother kindly let us borrow her car for this trip. It came with a compartment on top that would hold things. Lexi put her things inside, and as we were driving along the freeway (not even out of Utah yet) it came undone. Lexi's blanket went flying down the freeway! We pulled over and began to gather things inside the car. Kiera and Katie went looking for Lexi's blanket (luckily they found it!). We kept trying to fix the compartment, but it was working. So we slowly drove to the next exit that would have duck tape or bungee cords. We found one that had bungee cords and so we held it down with that. Well, it didn't work for too long and we were back on another exit, just hoping we could fix it this time. (We still weren't out of Utah) We thought we fixed it, and when we finally made it to California, on the freeway only 1 hour and 30 minutes away from our destination, the bungee cord snapped in the back, flung down and shattered the back window of Lexi's car. It was the loudest and most different noise I've ever heard. We were all in shock, and our hearts were all racing. We pulled off the freeway, and were able to find some help to clean up the broken glass, and then we found cardboard and duck tape! It worked like a charm :) We set up an appointment with the glass company for the next morning! In the meantime, it looked like a storm was coming in, so we drove the rest of the way, and finally made it to our resort by about 9:00 p.m. We put everything in our rooms, and decided to go for a walk and find a place to eat! It was dark, and I was a little nervous. My roommates weren't, so it wasn't too bad. We finally found a pizza place after a few drunk guys started yelling at us! It was REALLY yummy! One thing I learned real fast in California, is if ANYTHING is UNDER $5.00 you CANNOT use your debit/credit card. Made me angry :/ Well, we finished up and walked home to get ready for bed and sleep :)

Day 3: Monday. We walked around Oceanside and looked in all the shops, and went out to lunch. We then walked back to our resort, and walked to the beach (which was a 2 minute walk/right outside) and we played in the sand, and took a bunch of pictures. We even walked the pier that morning :) It was a beautiful site to see! We went hot tubbing/swimming later, and it was really fun!

Day 4: Tuesday. We went to Knottsberry Farm! It was a complete blast! We finally got the windshield fixed, and we ate breakfast too! We made it to Knottsberry around 10:00 a.m. and were there until 6:00 p.m. It was crazy! We had so much fun riding all the rides! My favorites were Ghost Rider, Xcelorator, and the Silver Bullet :) My feet hurt like crazy, and I was pretty hungry by the time we went home! It was really fun! We pretty much rode every ride :) We then drove to Downtown Disney to buy some things for our families :) It was busy and packed because Disneyland just got let out! (It closes really early!) We happened to walk into a store called Quick Silver. We were just walking around and looking at the clothes, when the manager just started up a conversation and asked us what we were looking for. We just replied the usual I'm just looking and then he asked us if we were from here or on vacation. We told him vacation and he asked if we were going to Disneyland. We all replied no, because we were too poor to go! He said he understood, and asked us how long we were staying in California. We told him and he told us to wait a second and he'd be back. We all just kind of looked at each other with confusion, and he came back and told us if he can get a hold of his boss, he might be able to walk us in to Disneyland! We then all got way excited! He told us not to get our hopes up, but to come back in like an hour! So we did just that, and he eventually still couldn't get a hold of his boss, so we gave him one of our numbers and he said he'd call. We all stopped at the bathroom (just minutes later) when my roommate got a phone call from him, and he was telling her that he could walk all of us in Disneyland on Thursday for free. (Yup, you just read that right.) We all started screaming like little girls, in the bathroom! It was SUPER exciting!

Day 5: Wednesday. We went to the beach all day! :) It was BEAUTIFUL and sunny, and warm and there were lots of people, and surfers and waves, and birds, and sunshine. We just laid out on the sand, and tanned/listened to music. We then got up and built a sand castle! We took TONS of pictures, and we even buried Kiera and turned her into a mermaid! :) It was really funny! We drew in the sand, and continued to play till it got a little cold. After that we went and all got showered, and drove down to the San Diego Temple :) That is one of the prettiest I've seen! It definitely DOES NOT beat the Salt Lake Temple. Beauty, MAYBE, but feeling, and history and EVERYTHING else.... it does not! It was really neat! :) We took pictures and just walked around! We even found slugs :/ Ew! We then went home and had a dance party in the parking garage, where two boys saw and ended up going to the same school we all go to. Then we went to bed!

Day 6: Thursday. The best day ever. We arrived at Quick Silver around 10:00 a.m. and we just waited around for another manager to help us because the current one only had two tickets, and there were five of us. He finally showed up and we started walking towards Disneyland. We were all talking and giggling because we just couldn't believe we were getting into Disneyland for free!! They walked us in, gave us our tickets, (which by the way we got a HOPPER pass!!!) they took a picture of us in front of the gardened Mickey Mouse head! We just couldn't thank them enough, and we parted our ways. We basically RAN to every ride! Splash Mountain and a few other important rides were closed, and we were sad but we basically hit all the amazing rides in Disneyland! We headed on over to California Adventures where we hit all the big, awesome and fun rides! We made it back to Disneyland just before it closed to finish off rides, and buy last minute gifts! It was SUPER fun! We finally went to eat at Rain Forest Cafe for dinner, and basically dove right in our meals we were so hungry!! All in all, it was a very awesome and special day!

We woke up around 4:00 in the morning on Friday and made it home by around 5:00! It was an amazing trip! Lots of fun memories, inside jokes, pictures and souvenirs! :) I'm really glad I went! I have the best roommates! Now back to school until the end of April! Wahoooo!
